Apprenticeships Explained

At Manley Summers, we believe in shaping young employees from the beginning of their career with vocational training. Apprentices work with experienced staff to gain job-specific skills, experience and complete an accredited qualification that closely matches their job role.

There are five elements to the Apprenticeship Programme:

  • A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
  • Key skills and functional skills such as numeracy, literacy and IT
  • A technical certificate
  • Employee rights and responsibilities
  • Personal learning and thinking skills

Benefits of Apprenticeships:
Through Apprenticeships, employees will be able to meet particular business needs, train and enhance their skills set. On and off the job training allows apprentices to gain key practical skills, as well as the technical knowledge needed to drive businesses forward.

The Cost of an Apprentice:
All apprentices will earn on average between £150-£200 a week. Your business won’t incur any training costs if your apprentice is aged between 16 and 18. You may also be able to obtain funding for apprentices over 23; Manley Summers will be able to help you access funding from the government.

Our Apprenticeship Services:
Manley Summer has an excellent track record of working with employers to deliver work-based learning provision and train Apprentices.Our dedicated Apprenticeship Team provide support, information and guidance every step of the way. We will manage all elements of the Programme, from recruitment and workplace assessment right through to certification. If you’re looking to take on an apprentice we can advertise for you on the National Apprenticeship Service website and through our own specialist recruitment service.

Adult Apprenticeships:
Apprenticeships are not exclusive to young people leaving education, they offer a valuable opportunity for already employed staff to up skill.Our government funded apprenticeship programmes are suitable for a range of employees from senior managers to support staff, regardless of age. We offer a wide range of apprenticeship programmes that cover Business Administration to Management.

With our apprenticeship programmes there is no day release required, as all training is work based, and once the training is complete, learners will gain a nationally recognised qualification.

We currently offer full Apprenticeships in:

  • Health and Social Care Level 2 & 3
  • Childcare Level 2 & 3
  • Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 2 & 3
  • Management Level 3 & 5
  • Team Leading Level 2
  • Business Administration Level 2 & 3
  • Customer Service Level 2 & 3
